Mr. Michael Whelan
ARCO Products Company
June 4, 1997
Page 2
The results of this assessment indicate the presence of low levels of diesel fuel and total
recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons in near surface soils at the site. The source of impact appears
to be associated with the previous use of the site by truck drivers to temporarily park their vehicles.
Based on the soil chemical data obtained from this investigation, it does not appear, however, that
this soil impact is contributing to identified groundwater impact beneath the property.
Given the information collected during this investigation, it does not appear that existing soil
conditions pose a significant environmental liability to ARCO should they decide to purchase the
property. It is anticipated that localized areas of shallow (less than 3 feet bgs) impact by diesel
fuel and oils will be encountered during grading operations. Overall impact to the soils on the
property, however, should be minimal.
Groundwater underlying the facility has been affected by diesel fuel. Present dissolved phase
diesel concentrations should be used by ARCO to establish a base line for the site. Current
concentrations do not appear to be at levels that would warrant cleanup or further investigation at
this time.
The attached report presents the data collected by SECOR during this environmental investigation.
It hasbeen our pleasure to be of service to ARCO Products Company. Should you have any
questions, please contact our office.
Respectfully submitted,
SECOR International Incorporated
Prepared by:
Darryl J.
