1400 Providence Highway
Norwood,MA 02062
Paragon 781-278-0911 - Fax 781-278-0910
real estate due diligence • facility management • environmental services
July 20, 2000
Ms. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Street, 31d-Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Re: Well Permit Application Work Plan
3422 West Hammer Lane, Stockton CA
Paragon Job #00-3737
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
Paragon Environmental .Services, Inc. (Paragon) has contracted to conduct a limited subsurface
investigation at the above-referenced property (the Site). Based on correspondence from Ms. Linda
Turkotte of your office, we understand that you require a work plan to process the enclosed well permit
application.
Scope of Work
Paragon has subcontracted Spectrum Exploration, Inc. (Spectrum) of Stockton, California (C-57
licensed contractor #512268) to advance up to six soil borings at the Site and complete each as a
monitoring well. The purpose of this work is to collect subsurface soil and groundwater samples at
discrete locations at the Site for analytical laboratory testing. Prior environmental investigation of the
Site identified the chlorinated solvent tetrachloroethene (also know as perchloroethylene, or "PCE") in
soil vapor at several soil gas survey points near the southwest corner of the Site. Paragon intends our
subsurface investigation to provide a more precise delineation of contamination by PCE and related
compounds at this portion of the Site.
According to USGS topographic information, the Site is less than 5 feet above sea level, adjacent to
Fourteen Mile Slough to the west and close to both Five Mile Slough to the south and Mosher Slough to
the north. Therefore, we anticipate the groundwater depth will be less than 10 feet below grade
(accounting for fill material that might have been brought in during Site development).
Boston • Hartford • Aspen
