The Planning Commission hearing date is
tentatively scheduled for October 5 , 1989 .
On May 24 , 1989, the Development Committee reviewed this
application for a commercial truck wash and public weight scale.
Application processing was postponed at that time, pending
preparation of a traffic/utilities study requested by the
Department of Public Works . The traffic/utilities study has
been prepared and submitted to the Department of Public Works
for review.
The Planning Division will recommend that the Planning Commission
deny Application No. UP-89-5 , based on a determination that the
proposed use is not . consistent with the intent of the Highway
Service (HS ) zone. Staff believes that the project fails to
establish a primary HS land use. Rather, the project proposes
two accessory uses . The accessory uses proposed are not
" . . .intended to provide for needed retail sales and services for
the safety and comfort of highway and freeway oriented travelers . . . "
Attachments are comment letters submitted in response to the
application referral. Comment letters of other agencies were
previously distributed in the preapplication review process.
Additional comments will be provided at the Development Committee
meeting .
HSI :bc
