Work Plan for Preliminary Subsurface Investigation January 31, 1992
City of Stockton, former Western Pacific Railroad Property, Stockton, CA W0601.1B
in accordance with San Joaquin County and California Department of Water Resources
guidelines. To protect the integrity of the well, a locking, water-tight well plug will be installed
on the well and locking steel well monument will be concreted over the well.
After installation, the wellheads will be surveyed vertically and horizontally to a common datum
by a registered surveyor to provide accurate well locations. The well locations will be plotted
on a map, provided by the City, to show the relationship between the location of the wells and
the selected redevelopment option. Depth-to-water readings will be used to determine the
groundwater flow direction beneath the project site.
6.0 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS METHODS
After the three monitoring wells have been installed, they will be properly developed and
monitored in accordance with the site Groundwater Monitoring Protocol (Appendix A). Water
samples will then be'collected after purging a minimum of three well volumes (casing and
sandpack). The criteria for determining well volumes are included in Appendix A. Sample
collection will be performed in accordance with the site Groundwater Sampling Protocol
(Appendix A). The water samples will be analyzed by RESNA Environmental Laboratories for
California Title 22 Metals, Volatile Organics (EPA method 8240), Semi-Volatile Organics (EPA
method 8270). Groundwater sampling protocol including sample containers, holding times,
means of preservation, and chain-of-custody documentation are summarized in Appendix A.
The development and purge water will be stored on site in drums approved for hazardous waste
storage until laboratory results are received. At this time, disposal and/or treatment options will
be evaluated. All site activities involving potential contact with hazardous materials associated
with this investigation will be conducted in accordance with the site Health and Safety plan
(Appendix B).
WP013192.SAY 5
