Stantec
Quarterly Status Summary Report— Third Quarter 2012
Stockton Charter Way Commingled Plume
October 12, 2012
warehouse building; no USTs or fuel dispensers are present on the property. Former Texaco
(Shell) is currently comprised of a station building, a car wash, four fuel dispenser islands, and
four USTs. No changes have been made to the previous investigations and site history since
the Corrective Action Plan (CAP), prepared by Stantec and dated June 19, 2012.
Sensitive Receptors
There are no known water wells within one quarter mile of the Site. The nearest surface water
body is the Mormon Slough, located approximately 2,800 ft to the north-northeast and down-
gradient of the Site.
Monitoring and Sampling
No groundwater monitoring and sampling was conducted during 3Q12.
Current Assessment Activities
No assessment activities were conducted during 3Q12.
Remediation Status
There is no active remediation operating at the Site.
Characterization Status
Petroleum hydrocarbon impacts in the soil are adequately delineated by the historical analytical
data and previous assessment activities. Petroleum hydrocarbon impacts in the groundwater
need further delineation as described in the Site Conceptual Model dated January 14, 2011.
The Further Assessment Work Plan (Work Plan) submitted to CRWQCB-CVR on February 15,
2011 included details of the proposed assessment activities to fill in the identified data gaps. In
a meeting with the CRWQCB-CVR, Stantec, and the responsible parties (RPs) on March 16,
2011, the CRWQCB-CVR suggested that active remediation be implemented at Chevron
Facility #9-2033 (the most upgradient location of the Site) and that the proposed assessment
activities be postponed pending remediation. In consideration of CRWQCB-CVR's input and
the Site assessment data, the RPs have agreed that implementing active remediation at
Chevron Facility #9-2033 will be most cost-beneficial in advancing the Site closer to "no further
action" criteria.
The CAP submitted to CRWQCB-CVR on June 19, 2012 included detailed evaluation of the full-
scale air sparge (AS) and soil vapor extraction (SVE) system design and a schedule for
implementation and reporting, including target date for system startup per evaluations
performed during recent pilot test and also proposed to install five additional SVE wells and ten
additional AS wells for Chevron Facility#9-2033.
Waste Disposal Summary
No investigate-derived waste was generated during 3Q12.
Recent Correspondence
The CRWQCB-CVR commented on the CAP dated June 19, 2012 and approved Stantec's
recommendation to install a full-scale AS/SVE system and additional AS and SVE remediation
wells in a letter dated July 10, 2012.
Stockton Charter Way Commingled Plume QSSR 3Q12.Final.doc 2
