ONSTRUCTION TESTING & ENGINEERING , INC.
p 4V ESCONDIDO MODESTO
L
ENGINEERING, INC.
July 29, 1994
Lodi Food and Liquor
1225 West Lockford Street
Lodi, CA 95240
Attention: Mr. Americk Singh
Subject: Update Letter
Lodi Food and Liquor
1225 West Lockford Street
Lodi, California
Dear Mr. Singh:
This letter is to inform you of the completion of the field work and of the laboratory
testing results for the additional soil boring (B-8) completed for the above
referenced site. The prior limited subsurface investigation completed on June 15,
1994, found non-detectable levels of total petroleum hydrocarbons - gasoline (TPH-
G) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) in all seven borings,
with the exception of B-2 where TPH-G was detected at 11 parts per million (ppm)
at 21 feet. The purpose of B-8 was to confirm the presence or absence of TPH-G in
the subsurface soils and to determine if benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylenes had migrated to greater depths then originally explored.
Field Investigation
On July 13, 1994, CTE personnel were onsite to conduct the additional subsurface
investigation. One six-inch soil boring was advanced to a depth of 43 feet below
ground surface using a hollow-stem auger B-61 drill rig. B-8 was located
approximately five feet to the west and two feet to the north of B-2. A figure is
included showing the approximate location of B-8. Soil samples were collected at 21,
31, 41 and 42.5 feet, using a 2-inch interior diameter split spoon sampler containing
6-inch brass sleeves. The sampler was driven into the soil approximately 18 inches
using a 140-pound hammer dropped repeatedly from a height of 30 inches.
The samples were removed from the sampler, the ends covered with aluminum foil,
capped, and sealed with duct tape. All soil samples were labeled and placed into cold
storage. The appropriate chain-of-custody forms were completed and a total of four
soil samples were shipped to Precision Environmental Laboratories, a California State
certified laboratory located in Orange, California, for analysis.
GEOTECHNICAL& CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING TES"LING & INSPEC'T'ION
2414 VINEYARD AVENUE SL71TE G FSCONDIDO, CA 92029(619)746-4955 FAX (619)746-9806
3540 OAKDALE ROAD \101)Fs-ro, CA 95355 (209)551.2271 FAX (209)551-3593
