Lodi Food and Liquor
Update Letter
Page 2
Soil from the boring was examined in the field and visually logged based on the
Unified Soil Classification System. (The boring log is enclosed) . No odors or soil
discolorations were noted in the soil cuttings from the hole. At the completion of the
field work, the boring was backfilled with neat cement.
To prevent cross-contamination between samples, all sampling equipment was cleaned
by washing with trisodium phosphate (TSP) , rinsing with water and then rinsing
again with distilled water.
Laboratory Results
Three of the four soil samples collected were analyzed by Precision Environmental
Laboratories for TPH-G, using EPA method 8015, and for BTEX, using EPA method
8020. The fourth soil sample (42.5 to 43 feet) was held by the laboratory pending
results of the first three analyses. The lab results for the three samples show no
detectable levels of either TPH-G or BTEX. Copies of the chemical analyses done are
included with this letter.
Conclusions
CTE's additional field work at the Lodi Food and Liquor found no field indications of
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in B-8. Laboratory analyses indicate non-
detectable levels of TPH-G and BTEX in the boring as well. Based upon the
information obtained during the initial subsurface investigation, and the additional
work completed in B-8, it is CTE's opinion that further investigative work is not
warranted for the subject site at this time. A copy of this letter has been forwarded
to San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, or we can be of further service,
please give us a call at (209) 551-2271.
Sincerely,
CONSTRUCTION TESTING & ENGINEERING, INC. - MODESTO
-&U. 1,
Kelly Hugie Thorpe
Project Geologist
KHT/cj
ENV\94-5071
encl: Soil Boring Logs
Laboratory Results
Boring Location Figure
