Soil Suitability Nitrate Loading Study
Manteca Unified School District
5700 East Nile Ave., Manteca, CA
Page 2

1.2 PRESENT AND PAST USES OF THE SITE
Condor Earth reviewed the USGS, Manteca Quadrangle, and historical aerial photographs provided by San
Joaquin County Surveyors Office to assess land use in the general area from 1937 to 1975. GoogleEarthTM
aerial photographs were reviewed for years 1993-2017 for more recent information. Based on historical
information, the Site has been primarily agricultural with rural housing developments prior to 1962. Based
on review of aerial photographs from 1993 to 2017 it appears that four additional rural residences were
developed south-southeast of the Site.
The Site currently consists of Nile Garden Elementary School. The school was built in 1963 including the
administration building, library, multipurpose room and classrooms. Several classrooms have been added
for a total of 42 classrooms. In 2005 the library and classrooms were remodeled. Copies of historical aerial
photographs are included in Appendix B.

1.3 EXISTING AND PROPOSED SEPTIC TANK USAGE
1.3.1 Existing On-Site Septic Tank Usage
Condor Earth performed a search of the EHD website for records pertaining to existing septic tanks and
found references to three existing septic tanks onsite. According to historical permits, a functioning
8,000-gallon septic tank was installed in the western portion of property south of Building C in October
1962, a 7,000-gallon septic tank was installed in the eastern portion of the property south of Building A in
October 1962, and a 4,500-gallon septic tank was installed in the southeastern portion of the property south
of the library in April 1971. Leach line additions to the first two septic tank systems were permitted and
installed in January 1965 and January 1970.
1.3.2 Site Septic Permit History
Table 1
Site Septic Permit History for Address 5700 East Nile Ave. Manteca, CA
Date Permit # Type Tank Size
(Gallons)
Leach
Line
Quantity
Leach
Line
(Feet)
Length Quantity/Size
Seepage
Pits/Sumps
1962 14862 Septic Tank 8000 5 55 each 20'x30'
1962 14893 Septic Tank 7000 2 100 each 20'x30'
1965 18415 Leach Line
Addition --- 4 50 each ---
1970 70-146 Leach Line
Addition --- 3 100 each ---
1971 71-234 Septic Tank
and Leach 4500 6 100 each ---
1.3.3 On-Site Septic Tank Repair History
There were no on-site repair permits found for this address.
1.3.4 Existing Septic Tank Usage in The General Area
To assess septic system density for the vicinity of the Site, Google Maps aerial photos were reviewed to
gauge residencies and agricultural land use. Based on 16 buildings/residencies within 0.5 miles of the Site
it's assumed that at least each building has one septic system. Refer to Section 1.3.5 for description of septic
tanks in the general area.
CONDOR
