Formation of a team of qualified facility personnel who will be responsible for
preparing the SWPPP and assisting the SMP Coordinator in the implementation of
the site's overall SMP;
2. Assessment of potential storm water pollution sources;
3. Selection and implementation of appropriate best management practices and
controls; and
4. Periodisc evaluation of the SWPPP's effectiveness in preventing or reducing storm
water pollution and the facility's compliance with the terms and conditions of the
permit.
Best Management Practices (BMPs) are schedules of activities, prohibitions, operational
and maintenance practices and other management practices which are expressly designed
to reduce and eliminate the pollution of the waters of the United States, including storm
water run-off. There are two general categories of BMPs:
1. Operational and administrative (Le, non-structural) controls which are designed
to minimize and eliminate storm water exposure to the source of potential
pollutants.
2. Structural controls which are engineered systems designed to remove pollutants
CATEWSMPREV2.doc Section 1-5
