14.0 CORRECTIVE ACTION
The need for corrective action may be identified by system or performance audits or by
standard QC procedures. The essential steps in the corrective actions system will be:
• Checking the predetermined limits for data acceptability beyond which corrective
action is required;
• identifying and defining problems;
• assigning responsibility of investigating the problem;
• investigating and determining the cause of the problem;
• determination of a corrective action to eliminate the problem(this may include
reanalysis or resampling and analyses);
• assigning and accepting responsibility for implementing the corrective action;
• implementing the corrective action and evaluating the effectiveness;
• verifying that the corrective action has eliminated the problem;and
• documenting the corrective action taken.
For each measurement system,the laboratory QA/QC Officer will be responsible for
initiating the corrective action and the laboratory supervisor will be responsible for
implementing the corrective action.
031090-10(4) -22- CONESTOGA-ROVERS&ASSOCIATES
