Union Rd - Manteca <br /> Dear Jim: <br /> Thank you for sending me a copy of the inventory of chemicals stored <br /> at 1085 S. Union Rd. I have reviewed the chemicals listed on the <br /> inventory and have the following requirements : <br /> 1 . Flammable Liquids: I estimate that approximately 1100 <br /> gallons (20 drums) of Class I & 11 flammable liquids <br /> are being stored. There looks to be an additional 30 <br /> drums of combustible liquids (Class III liquids) stored <br /> on the premises . <br /> Section 79.407 of the 1979 Edition of the Uniform Fire <br /> Code requires that the following conditions be met for <br /> the outside storage of 10 to 100 drums of Class I & II <br /> liquids : <br /> a) A distance of 50 ft. shall be maintained between <br /> the storage and any building and/or property line. <br /> b) Drum storage shall be located so as to prevent <br /> runoff or drainage toward other storage or buildings . <br /> c) The area shall be kept clear of weeds, grass , debris , <br /> and other combustible material . <br /> d) Signs shall be posted preventing open flames or <br /> smoking. <br /> e) A fence shall be required to prevent tampering or <br /> trespassers. <br /> f) A clear area of 15 ft. shall be maintained between <br /> the flammable liquid 's storage and any other com- <br /> bustible storage. <br /> g) Empty container storage shall be treated as if they <br /> were full containers unless the containers have been <br /> properly washed and are free of explosive vapors. <br /> h) Warning placards stating "FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS" shall <br /> be placed on the fence surrounding the flammable <br /> storage area. <br />
