The RWQCB recently rescinded the waste discharge requirements and the
site is scheduled for construction.
Landfill expansion sites, Corona and Saugus, California - Managed and performed
geotechnical, geological, and hydrogeological evaluation of proposed expansion areas
for existing landfill. Projects included geologic mapping, air-photo interpretation,
borehole packer permeability testing, groundwater assessment, geophysical surveys,
and clay liner source evaluation.
Landfill monitoring plan, Saugus, California - Implemented groundwater and
unsaturated zone monitoring plan at an existing landfill and proposed expansion areas to
conform with California Administrative Code Title 23, Chapter 3, Subchapter 15.
Installed groundwater monitoring wells to 380 feet, vadose zone wells, lysimeters, and
neutron-probe access holes.
Groundwater supply project, Westley, Stanislaus County, California - Conducted an
evaluation of groundwater supplies in the Westley area to determine the potential impact
of proposed residential development. As required by Stanislaus County, the project
included an assessment of regional and local groundwater quality and quantity,
groundwater recharge and storage, flow patterns, and current groundwater usage. Local
geologic and hydrogeologic conditions were also evaluated. Provided recommendations
for water supply well locations, construction details, and potential groundwater treatment
options.
Groundwater supply project, Grayson, California - Conducted hydrogeologic study to
evaluate the potential impact of proposed residential development on groundwater
resources in the Grayson area. Investigation included a review of existing hydrogeologic
and geologic data to evaluate groundwater quality, quantity, flow patterns, recharge and
discharge, and current groundwater usage. Project also included estimating a water
balance for the proposed development, and estimating the development's impact upon
groundwater supplies.
Solid waste assessment test, Rancho Cordova, California - Project Manager of
SWAT investigation for a Rank 2 landfill. Project included preparation of a SWAT
proposal to be approved by appropriate regulatory agencies. Investigative techniques
included installation of deep monitoring wells through dredge tailings using air-
percussion drilling techniques, collection of surface and groundwater samples, and
collection of vadose zone soil samples.
Landfill construction, EI Sobrante Landfill, Riverside County, California - Onsite
geologist during construction of Class III landfill. Responsibilities included assisting
contractor in implementing landfill design criteria, and groundwater, vadose-zone, and
leachate monitoring plans.
Landfill access road, Riverside County, California - Conducted geologic investigation
to characterize site geology along a 1.3-mile-long access road. Project included use of
seismic refraction geophysics to assess the rippability of bedrock cuts up to 55 feet, as
well as foundation design criteria for a 5-span bridge.
Clay liner source investigation, EI Sobrante Landfill, Riverside County, California -
Conducted geologic investigation that identified onsite source of clay for use as a liner.
Investigation included extensive field mapping and laboratory testing to characterize the
