Union Road, Manteca, CA 95337 <br /> Dear Community Member, <br /> The purpose of this letter is to inform you about the planned clean-up of hazardous and <br /> non-hazardous materials (the "Project") on property located at 1085 S. Union Road, <br /> Manteca, California. <br /> The clean-up effort is being undertaken by the current property owner, and is regulated <br /> by, and being overseen by, the Department of Toxic Substances Control (also known as <br /> DTSC). In an effort to help the property owner and DTSC determine the level of <br /> community interest in this Project, we ask that you please participate in the brief survey <br /> enclosed with this letter. The level of community interest, as determined by this survey, <br /> will assist the property owner and DTSC in keeping the community informed about the <br /> Project's status. <br /> The Property located at-1085 S. Union Road consists of approximately five (5) acres and <br /> is bordered by residences on the north, west, and south sides, and is bordered by South <br /> Union Road on the east. The southwest corner of the property is adjacent to the <br /> northwest corner of a school. The Property is currently fenced on all sides, and is not <br /> accessible by the public. <br /> The Property was formerly used as a family residence as well as a chemical resale <br /> business known as the "Gordon Research Company." Inspections of the property have <br /> shown the following substances and materials to have been used and/or stored on the <br /> property: <br /> • perchloroethylene—a non-flammable solvent and de-greaser used in dry-cleaning <br /> and mechanical industries <br /> • hyroiodic acid—a corrosive substance used in disinfectants and sanitizers; <br /> 488108-2 <br />
