PERMIT/SERVICES
1830 West 38th Avenue
Denver, CO 80217
MEETING SUMMAR Y, LEPRINO FOODS COMPANY, TRACY, SAN JOA Q UIN CO UNTY
Thank you for the 30 July 2003 tour of the Tracy facility plant and subsequent meeting. We appreciate
Leprino Food Company's interest and willingness to clean up the groundwater pollution from the diesel
fuel spill. Enclosed is a summary of the meeting.
As we discussed in the meeting,we concur that oxygenating the groundwater is an appropriate technique
to accelerate biodegradation of the fuel remaining in the groundwater. However,we remain concerned
that the extent of the downgradient migration of the pollution has never been defined. Also,we do not
know where the nearest producing wells are located and whether they may be threatened by this
pollution. Therefore, Leprino Foods needs to conduct a well survey to identify any wells within one-half
mile of the site, prepare engineering calculations to determine how far the fuel may have migrated, and
install a downgradient monitoring well in an appropriate location to document the stability of the plume.
By 22 September 2003,please provide a work plan for the proposed groundwater oxygenation remedial
measure and a schedule to conduct a well survey and install a downgradient monitoring well. If you
have any questions, you-may contact me at (916) 255-3077 or at djuthg@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
GERALD J.
