i 3-7
Results of metals analyses indicated that total selenium, cadmium, lead, and silver were not
detectable in any ground water sample collected Total mercury and total hexavalent chro-
mium were detected at concentrations near their respective detection limits (mercury, 0 0002
mg/f and hexavalent chromium, 0 01 mg/f) in the ground water samples collected from
Monutonng Wells MW-3 and MW-2, respectively Barium was the only metal detected in
the ground water sample collected from the supply well system (0 05 mg/f) The concentra-
tions of banum in other ground water samples ranged from 0 79 to 1 6 mg/1 Total chro-
mium was detected in each ground water sample collected from monitoring wells and ranged
from 0 15 to 0 25 mg/f Total arsenic was also detected in each ground water sample
col-lected from a monitoring well and ranged from 0 015 to 0 054 mg/f
TCL VOCs analyses for the ground water samples collected indicated the detection of VOCs
in the ground water sample collected from Monitoring Well MW-1 These VOCs were ben-
zene (7,400 micrograms per liter [jaglf]), toluene (6,300 µglf), ethylbenzene (2,000 pglf),
and total xylenes (9,000 ,ug/f) TCL VOCs (including the BTEX constituents) were not de-
tected in the ground water samples collected from Monitoring Wells MW-2 and MW-3
3 3 2 Supplemental Phase H Investigation
Based on the detection of BTEX constituents in the ground water sample collected from
Monitoring Well MW-1 during the initial Phase II Investigation, additional monitoring wells
were installed and a second ground water sampling event was completed Ground water
samples were collected from Monitoring Wells MW-1 through MW-6 on August 26, 1994
and analyzed for TPH-purgeable fuels as gasoline, TCL VOCs, and total (unfiltered) lead
(Table 3) The analytical method used for analysis of lead during this sampling round per-
mitted a lower detection limit than the analytical method used in the initial Phase II
Investigation.
TPH-purgeable fuels as gasoline was detected in the ground water sample collected from
Monitoring Well MW-6 at a concentration of 4,700 µgl f (Table 8) Analysis of the ground
water sample collected from Monitoring Well MW-6 also indicated the presence of "high
boiling point" hydrocarbons in addition to the detected quantity of TPH-purgeable fuels
29025
•
"REALISTIC SOLUTIONS FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE PROBLEMS"
