3 SOLLECO
ECAT 250 ELECTRIC CATALYTIC OXIDIZER
WITH 250 CFM VAPOR EXTRACTION PACKAGE
GENERAL INFORMATION FOR THE 250 ECAT
The Electric Catalytic Oxidizer (SCAT) with Vapor Extraction is used for
the remediation of soils with volatile organic compounds (VOC's) which are
present from leakage or spillage.
The SCAT is most effective when the soil vapor concentration is nominally
between 500 and 3,500 parts per million by volume. The ECAT utilizes a
catalyst cell and a 50% efficient heat exchanger to minimize utility
consumption while remediating the soil.
ECAT GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The SCAT Oxidizer is skid mounted or trailer mounted and contains the
following items:
Entrained Liquid Separator — Vacuum Pump & Motor — Electrical Control
Panel — Heating Elements — Oxidizer Chamber — CataIyst Cell — Heat
Exchanger.
Soil vapors are extracted with the vacuum pump through the entrained liquid
separator, which removes the majority of the water brought up from the soil
during the vacuum extraction process. Dilution air is added if necessary and
the vapors are pushed through the heat exchanger where they are heated
utilizing the catalyst exhaust. After pre-heating, the vapors proceed to the
oxidizer chamber where the electric elements heat the vapors to their final
catalyst inlet temperature of 650° F. The vapors come into contact with the
catalyst at 650° F and combust into water vapor and carbon dioxide. The
destruction efficiency for the standard ECAT is 95% or above.
The SCAT oxidizer is described more thoroughly in the technical
specification section of this document.
