Hwy 120, Escalon
APN 205-080-04, SR0081797, PA-1900083
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated February 24, 2020 and its addendum dated March 25, 2020, for the above
noted location, and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL Study was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater
treatment system (OWTS) usage and the potential impact of nitrate to groundwater for the proposed project
development. The proposed development project includes:
1. Proposed small winery with the OWTS usage of 1,412.8 gallons per day from the following activities:
a. Wastewater from 9 full time employees.
b. Wastewater from 40 daily visitors.
c. Wastewater from 4 event patrons with maximum of 150 attendees.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
1. The SSNL Study supports the suitability for standard OWTS usage for the proposed development
project on the above mentioned parcel, pursuant to San Joaquin County Ordinance Code Title 9,
Section 9-1105.2(d), provided proposed OWTS and 100% replacement area can meet all required
minimum setbacks from any water wells.
If you have any questions please contact Naseem Ahmed, Registered Environmental Health Specialist,
REHS, at nahmed@sjgov.org or (209) 468-3436.
Michael Kith, REHS
Program Coordinator
C: Baez Geotechnical Group
1868 E.
