(I It ] 6/99)
Attacbed Soil Analytical Results
Dear Mr. Knoll:
The following and attached documentation ate being submitted to fulfill release reporting requirements in
accordance with California Code of Regulations Title 23, Division 3, Chapter 16, Article 5, Section 2652.
The information provided below corresponds to each of the designated subsections within Section 2652:
2652 (b) Indications of an unauthorized release were discovered upon review of preliminary soil analytical
results on November 11 , 1998, The Preliminary results represented soil sampling performed on
October 29 and 30, 1998 during initial sitz; assessment activities. Tabulated results of sample
analyses confirming the occurrence of a release have been included wits, this report. Certified
analytical results of soil and groundwater sampling will be transmitted within the final report
describing all initial investigation activities.
Investigation of the release began with soil borings drilled during initial investigation activities on
October 29 and 30, 1998. Preliminary laboratory analyses indicate the presence of weathered
gasoline in soil and groundwater. The weathered nature of the contaminants and the absence of
fuel oxygenates suggests the release occurred several years ago. It is assumed the release was
stopped in 1983 when the former UST's were closed, removed and replaced . No emergency
conditions were present.
The notification of an unauthorized release was telephoned by Chevron to San Joaquin County
PHS-E14D (Harlin Knoll) on November 12, 1998.
2652 (c) On November 16, 1998, an Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized Release (Leak)
Contamination Site Report (attached) was submitted to San Joaquin County public Health
Services. In addition to the information provided on that report, the following are presented to
satisfy all requirements of this subsection:
(1 ) see attached unauthorized release repon
(2) see attached unauthorized release report
(3) see attached unauthorized release report
(4) see attached unauthorized release report
(5) see attached unauthorized release report
