24 April 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1207
3.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
During the first quarter sampling event, petroleum hydrocarbons were detected only in monitoring
well MWA. TPH-g was detected at a concentration of 1,500 micrograms per liter (µg/1). BTEX
compounds were detected atthe following concentrations: 18µg/1 toluene,25 µg/1 ethylbenzene, and
127 µg/1 total xylenes.
No other analytes were detected at or above laboratory detection limits in the ground water samples
analyzed. The analytical results of the ground water samples collected on 18 January 2007 are
summarized in Table 3. Figure 5 depicts the estimated lateral distribution of dissolved TPH-g at the
site. The laboratory report (CTEL Project No. CT214-0701132), QA/QC reports, and chain of
custody form are included in Appendix E.
3.3. SOIL-VAPOR EXTRACTION FINDINGS
Between 05 February 2007(initiation of S VE remediation)and 28 March 2007(last S VE monitoring
of the quarter),the SVE unit operated for approximately 580 hours; influent flow rates ranged from
approximately 38 standard cubic feet per minute (scfin)to 90 scfm (Table 2).
Hydrocarbon concentrations detected in influent soil vapor samples were as follows:
• 05 February 2007-TPH-g was detected at 1,900µg/1,benzene at 4.2µg/l,toluene at 80µg/1,
ethylbenzene at 26 pg/1, and total xylenes at 130 µg/1.
• 12 February 2007 - TPH-g was detected at 6,100 µg/1, toluene at 54 µg/1, ethylbenzene at
25 µg/1, and total xylenes at 110 µg/1.
• 19 February 2007-TPH-g was detected at 6,600 gg/l,benzene at 4.8µg/1,toluene at 28µg/1,
ethylbenzene at 15 µg/1, and total xylenes at 65 µg/1.
• 26 February 2007-TPH-g was detected at 1,200µg/1,benzene at 9.2 µg/1,toluene at 27µg/1,
ethylbenzene at 19 gg/l, and total xylenes at 65 µg/l.
• 05 March 2007 - TPH-g was detected at 3,300 µg/l, toluene at 32 µg/1, ethylbenzene at
20 µg/1, and total xylenes at 86 µg/1.
• 12 March 2007-TPH-g was detected at 280µg/1,toluene at 28µg/l,ethylbenzene at 18 gg/l,
and total xylenes at 68 µg/1.
• 19 March 2007-TPH-g was detected at 700µg/1,toluene at 21 µg/1,ethylbenzene at 13 µg/1,
and total xylenes at 42 µg/1.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
