24 April 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1207
2.4. WASTE LIQUID DISPOSAL
On 02 February 2007,approximately 2,200 gallons of ground water extracted from well MW-1 were
pumped from the on-site Baker Tank by American Valley Waste Oil, Inc.. The water was removed
to allow the tank to be moved to a different location in order to accommodate the client's
construction activities. The water was transported off-site under non-hazardous waste manifest to
Seaport Environmental, a waste treatment facility located in Redwood City, California.
Documentation and uniform non-hazardous waste manifest for disposal of the waste liquid is
included in Appendix D.
2.5. SOIL DISPOSAL
On 02 February 2007, Slaby Environmental, Inc. of Borrego Springs, California removed ten
55-gallon drums of soil cuttings generated from previous drilling activities. The soil was transported
to Forward Landfill in Manteca,California for disposal.A copy of the non-hazardous waste manifest
is included in Appendix D.
2.6. SVE SYSTEM START-UP
The Slaby Environmental,Inc.granular activated carbon(GAC)SVE system began operation at the
site on 05 February 2007 under the verbal directive of APCD personnel. At the time of the start-up,
an AGE representative measured the influent and total influent flow rates utilizing a flow meter and
soil vapor concentrations utilizing an organic vapor meter(OVM)equipped with a photo-ionization
detector(PID [Thermo Environmental 580B, 10.0eV, calibrated to isobutylene 100 ppb]).
Influent and effluent soil vapor samples were collected to document baseline concentrations of
hydrocarbons in the soil vapor extracted by the SVE system.
2.7. SOIL-VAPOR EXTRACTION
The SVE unit consists of a 10-horsepower Sutorbilt 5L vacuum blower and three 1,000-pound GAC
adsorption vessels. Soil-vapor is extracted from vapor well VW-1 using the vacuum blower and
routed to the carbon vessels(Figure 3).The vapor extraction system is connected through a manifold
box to the vapor recovery well. Electricity for the SVE system is provided through a temporary
power pole installed at the site. Power to the system is controlled by a timer; from 05 February to
05 March 2007, the SVE unit operated only between 0800-hr and 1800-hr to minimize noise
disturbance to nearby residences. On 05 March 2007,the operational hours were adjusted to 0615-hr
Advanced GwEavironmental,Inc.
