L & M OPERABLE UNIT-THIRD QUARTER 2013 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Status of Remediation Activities
November 1, 2013
8.00 lbs. (1.29 gallons) of MTBE from soil vapor beneath the L&M OU. Historical SVE system
operations and analytical data are presented in Table 19 through Table 22.
3.3 SEPARATE PHASE HYDROCARBON REMOVAL
A free product removal system was installed at the Water Front Tower (WFT) property and
became operational on September 11, 2013. Since startup the free product removal system
has removed approximately 128 gallons of groundwater from the subsurface. A system
startup report detailing the startup, operation and maintenance, and recovery status of the free
product removal system will be submitted by Stantec in a stand-alone report. Free product
removal skimmer system data can be found in Table 24.
Due to the installation of the new free product removal system, quarterly SPH removal in the
wells located offsite to the north on the WFT property was discontinued at the end of the first
quarter of 2013. Approximately 1,802.3 gallons of SPH have been removed from groundwater
beneath the Site since May 10, 2004. Historic SPH removal data can be found in Table 14 and
Table 15.
3.4 CONCLUSIONS
Based on review of system performance data, shutdown of the onsite remedial systems is
warranted. Stantec has submitted a formal letter recommending shutdown of the onsite
remediation systems. Pending approval from the RWQCB-CVR, Stantec will continue operation
of the ASVE and SVE systems, and operation of the DPE system as field conditions warrant.
5tantec 3.3
