results from drilling and installation of groundwater monitoring wells in July 2009. Section 3
presents the additional evaluation of the biosparge remedy and discusses design parameters to
consider for pilot testing. Based on the recently submitted CPA application, conclusions and
recommendation for pilot testing the biosparge remedy will be included in discussions with
the other RPs after a site conceptual model (SCM) is completed for the commingled plume.
1.1 Description of Site and Vicinity
The Site occupies approximately 0.9 acre of land in Stockton, California (Figure 1). The Site
is located in Township 1 North, Range 6 East of the Mount Diablo Baseline and Meridian.
' This location corresponds to—121.293453 longitude and 37.9369533 latitude.
The Site is located in an area occupied by commercial and industrial businesses (Figure 2).
The Site is bordered to the north by a former Texaco service station (now a independent gas
station), to the east by a vacant lot, to the south by a former Dolly Madison bakery site (1426
South Lincoln Street), and to the west by South Lincoln Street. Beyond South Lincoln Street
to the west are a Chevron station and the City of Stockton Corporate Yard. Beyond Charter
Way to the north is a former Arco station (now a car wash) and a Transmission Shop. Five of
the surrounding properties are open LUFT sites. The City of Stockton Corporate Yard also
has reported releases of petroleum products.
The majority of the Site is occupied by a warehouse building (Figure 3). Adjacent to the
western and northern sides of the building is an asphalt-paved parking area and driveway.
' Adjacent to the eastern side of the building is an unpaved, fenced yard. Previously,
Colombo/Toscana operated a distribution depot for bakery products at the Site. Mr. Edward
Overton currently owns the Site and uses the warehouse building for storage.
1.2 UST History and Site Investigation Chronology
' Colombo/Toscana owned and operated two 4,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank
(UST) systems for fleet refueling at the Site. The USTs were located west of and adjacent to
the warehouse building. The fuel dispenser was located inside the building near the
northwestern corner. The removal of the UST systems and subsequent environmental
investigations, remediation efforts, and groundwater monitoring activities are summarized in
the following subsections.
Historical soil sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1. Monitoring Well
Construction Details are presented on Table 2. Historical Groundwater Elevation Data are
' summarized in Table 3. Historical Analytical Data for Groundwater Well Samples and
Groundwater Grab Samples are summarized in Tables 4 and 5, respectfully. Historical
sampling locations are presented on Figure 3.
' 1.2.1 Removal of UST System
Two 4,000-gallon gasoline USTs and the fuel dispenser were removed for permanent closure
in February 1994. The location of the former USTs is depicted on Figure 3. During the UST
removal, the San Joaquin Health District (SJHD) inspector noted three '/2-inch diameter holes
on the bottom of the southern UST (SJHD, 1994).
