t1.0 INTRODUCTION AND SITE BACKGROUND
' On behalf of Sara Lee Bakery Group, hic., PSC Industrial Outsourcing, LP (PSC) has
prepared this Vapor Intrusion Survey - Soil Gas Sampling Report (Report) for the former
Colombo/Toscana Bakery (Colombo/Toscana) site located at 1444 South Lincoln Street in
Stockton, California (Site). The submittal of this Report is in accordance with the Central
' Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) letters dated August 15, 2008;
October 2, 2008; and December 23, 2008. The Report describes the activities performed
including the analytical data to evaluate the soil vapor intrusion conditions at the Site. This
document also includes Site background information and chronology.
' 1.1 Description of Site and Vicinity
The Site occupies approximately 0.9 acre of land in Stockton, California (Figure 1). The Site
is located in Township 1 North, Range 6 East of the Mount Diablo Baseline and Meridian.
' This location corresponds to—121.293453 longitude and 37.9369533 latitude(Figure 1).
The Site is located in an area occupied by commercial and industrial businesses (Figure 2).
' The Site is bordered to the north by a former Texaco service station (now an Arco station), to
the east by a vacant lot, to the south by a former Dolly Madison bakery site (1426 South
Lincoln Street), and to the west by South Lincoln Street. Beyond South Lincoln Street to the
' west is a Chevron station and the City of Stockton Corporate Yard. Beyond Charter Way to
the north is a former Arco station (now a car wash) and a Transmission Shop. Five of the
surrounding properties are open Leaking Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) sites. The City of
' Stockton Corporate Yard also has reported releases of petroleum products.
The majority of the Site is occupied by a warehouse building (Figure 3). Adjacent to the
western and northern sides of the building is an asphalt-paved parking area and driveway.
Adjacent to the eastern side of the building is an unpaved, fenced yard. There are no utility
vaults located on the Site. The building, as well as the adjacent buildings, is a slab on grade
structure without a basement or crawl space. The concrete slab is six-inches thick. The
1 building is an open warehouse with one walk-in door and five overhead doors, four of which
are designed to allow vehicles to enter the building. Previously, Colombo/Toscana operated a
distribution depot for bakery products at the Site, in which route trucks entered the building
for loading. Mr. Edward Overton currently owns the Site and uses the warehouse building for
storage.
' 1.2 UST History and Site Investigation Chronology
Colombo/Toscana owned and operated two 4,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank
(UST) systems for fleet refueling at the Site. The USTs were located west of and adjacent to
the warehouse building. The fuel dispenser was located inside the building near the
northwestern corner.
' The removal of the UST systems and subsequent environmental investigations, remediation
efforts, and groundwater monitoring activities are summarized in the following subsections.
' Historical sampling locations are presented on Figure 3.
Vapor Invasion Survey
Soil Gas Sampling Report
' prepared For:Sara Lee Bakery Group,Inc.
