STATE OF CALIFORNIAIEALTH AND WELFARE' NCT GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN, Ge
DEPARTMENT. OF HEALTH SERVICES
TOXIC SUBSTANCES CONTROL DIVISION
REGION 7
4250 POWER INN ROAD
SACRAMENTO,CA 95826 •I V
(916)739-3145 lW Ips
1
June 21, 1989
jUN ^ G 1989
X12 JLPT ^:Y'RONNVNTAIHEA1T0
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Lague
1478 Dunigan Place
Manteca, CA 95336
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Lague:
IMPLEMENTATION OF RECOMMENDED CLEAN UP ALTERNATIVE, LAGUE
SALES
As you know, the Department is nearing completion of its
hazardous waste investigation of Lague Sales.
On April 7, 1989, the Department issued the Draft Remedial
Action Plan (RAP) for the site. The Draft RAP is the formal
document used by the Department to summarize the findings of
the investigation conducted pursuant to Section 25355.5 of the
California Health and Safety Code, and to identify and
evaluate remedial alternatives to the site.
The formal 30 day public comment period required by DHS
regulations closed officially on May 7 , 1989 . The Department
is currently summarizing the comments received during this
period for inclusion in the Final RAP. All of the comments
received during this period related to clarification of the
technical information included in the Draft RAP and the
discussion of the document presented at the April 13 , 1989
Public Meeting.
Consequently, the Final RAP will specify implementation of the
so-called "Limited Action" alternative described in Section
7 . 0 of the Draft RAP as the recommended alternative clean up
of the site. This alternative involves transportation and
disposal to the drums containing the "topsoil pile" soil to a
licensed class I hazardous waste disposal facility.
Implementation of the recommended remedial alternative will
involve the following activities.
o Inform DHS of hazardous waste hauler selected to
perform remediation, and date of pickup.
