A site inspection photograph log is enclosed with this letter. <br /> The following observations were made during the site inspection: <br /> • Minor odor was noted at the pump station in the wastewater ponds. <br /> • The freeboard of all the wastewater ponds was acceptable (at least two feet). <br /> • In general, the pond berms were in good condition. <br /> • Silage com was being grown in the land application area. <br /> The following violations were noted during the inspection: <br /> • Ponded water was observed in the portion of the application area that was not cropped. Waste <br /> Discharge Requirements Order No. 92-054, Discharge Specification B.4 requires "There shall be <br /> no visible standing water in the disposal areas 24 hours after wastewater is applied. " In addition, <br /> Discharge Specification B.5 requires "Application of wastewater to land shall be at a rate which is <br /> reasonable for the crop, soil, climate, special local situation, management system, and type of <br /> waste. " By 1 November 2001, Alpine Packing Company shall submit a report describing how it <br /> has ceased discharging wastewater to land application areas that are not cropped.
