PROCESS DESCRIPTION <br />TYPE OF AEROSOL CANS: <br />Paints, Solvents & Petroleum Based Lubricants <br />ESTIMATED VOLUMES OR QUANTITIES TO BE PROCESSED MONTHLY: <br />+/-100, 10-15 oz. cans. <br />TREATMENT PROCESS OR PROCESSES DESCRIPTION: Can(s) are punctured in an aerosol can recycling system that is fixed to a bung hole on the top of a 30/55 <br />gallon steel drum; the propellant from the can(s) is captured in the drum and filtered out by a carbon filter that is also fixed to a bung hole on the top of the drum. The residual <br />liquid from the can(s) is drained and collected inside the drum. Once the allotted accumulation period is exhausted a registered hazardous waste hauler is contacted and the <br />drum is removed and hauled to a designated facility. <br />EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: <br />Aerosol Can Recycling System- A metal box with a spring suspended tray inside and a gasket lined lid. Once the can(s) is inserted the lid is closed using a handle which <br />forces the internal tray down where a Y." spike type device punctures the can. <br />30/55 Gallon Steel Drum- A steel fixed top drum with 2 removable caps that access bung holes on the top of the drum. <br />EQUIPMENT DESIGN CAPACITIES: <br />Aerosol Can Recycling System- Capable of processing 1-3 cans per each use. <br />30/55 Gallon Steel Drum- Capable of accumulating 30/55 gallons of liquid waste depending on which size is being used. <br />III. HAZARDOUS WASTE TREATMENT RESIDUALS <br />DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF HAZARDOUS TREATMENT RESIDUALS: <br />The Hazardous Waste Treatment Residual from the Aerosol Can Recycling System has the potential to display characteristics of flammability and toxicity. <br />DESCRIPTION OF MANAGEMENT OF ANY HAZARDOUS TREATMENT RESIDUALS: <br />The residual liquids from the punctured aerosol cans are captured in a properly labeled 30/55 gallon steel drum. Once the allotted accumulation period is <br />exhausted a registered nazardous waste hauler is contacted and the drum is removea and replaced with a new drum. The waste drum is hauled to a <br />designated facility where the contents are blended with other petroleum based fuels in the refining process. <br />IV.
