4#01e9=1TCChJLI IAC- Page 9 <br /> Dual Phase Extraction Pilot Test Report <br /> Project No 652 2 <br /> February 22,2005 <br /> reduced to 5 gpm During the scheduled system check at midnight, the holding tank looked <br /> in danger of overfilling so the extraction rate was reduced to 3 gpm for the remainder of the <br /> ' night <br /> December 8 <br /> ' On December 8th (Wednesday) at 8 00 American Valley picked up their second load of 3300 <br /> gallons and returned at 13 00 to pick up another load of 3300 gallons The system was set at <br /> an extraction rate of approximately 10 gpm and left at this setting American Valley then <br /> ' made at least three transports per day for the remainder of the test <br /> December 9 <br /> Water and soil vapor samples were taken at 8 hour intervals throughout the test (5.00, 16 00, <br /> and at midnight) One system shut down occurred on December 9th (Thursday) for unknown <br /> reasons The system was found off at the 16 00 check and re-started without problems It is <br /> ' theorized that a "deadhead" occurred in one or both of the stingers that led to a high pressure <br /> shut down <br /> ' 4.4 Extraction Termination <br /> December 10 <br /> On December 10th (Friday), at 15 00 the process of terminating the test was initiated The <br /> Solinst Leveloggers® were removed from the wells and final depth to water measurements <br /> ' taken in the wells A final set of vacuum measurements were taken and then the monitoring <br /> wells were closed and secured The system was turned off and the stingers removed from the <br /> two extraction wells A final water load was picked up by American Valley at 16 00 and <br /> ' Mako staff arrived at 16 45 to ready their trailer for transport The groundwater extracted <br /> during the five day test totaled approximately 32,250 gallons A detailed analysis of the <br /> extraction data is presented in the following sections <br /> 5.0 DATA ANALYSIS <br /> ' In the following sections GTI will discuss data generated by the test that can be used to <br /> design a vapor extraction and/or groundwater treatment system for full site remediation <br /> r <br /> 5.1 Vapor Extraction <br /> GTI monitored the soil vapor extraction process by periodically measuring vacuum pressure <br /> in wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 The field measurement data have been converted to <br /> ' inches of water vacuum for convenience and are included in Table 6 (inches water vacuum = <br /> inches Hg x 13 6) Wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 are located approximately 35, 58 and 14 <br /> feet, respectively from EW-2 As stated above, the extraction from EW-2 started on <br />
