Diamond Lumber-Lodi Quarterty Groundwater Monitoring Page 6
containing solidified concrete grout, and 1 drum containing grout and cuttings generated during
monitoring well installation, are currently stored in the covered material storage area that extends along
the south wall of the former lumber storage area.
&0 PURGED GROUNDWATER DISPOSAL
SRK requested permission from the City of Lodi, Wastewater Department, to dispose of purged water
generated during the sampling of monitoring wells SRK-MW1, SRK-MW2 and SRK-MW3. On
February, 4, 1993, one 55-gallon drum containing purge water generated during the sampling of the
above referenced monitoring wells was poured under the direct supervision of Mr. Frank Beeler
(Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent) into a sanitary sewer manhole located at the City of Lodi
maintenance facility. Copies of the request for off-site disposal into the municipal sanitary sewer
system, and written confirmation of disposal at the maintenance facility are provided in Appendix G.
9.0 REGISTERED WELLS LOCATED WITHIN 2,000 FEET
1 Pursuant to the San Joaquin County PHS/EHD request (correspondence dated January 22, 1993),SRK
performed a record search of registered wells (private, municipal, monitoring, irrigation) located within
2,000-feet of the Diamond Lumber facility and identified 3 registered wells, comprising of 2 municipal
' water wells and 1 monitoring well. A copy of this information is provided in Appendix H. SRK also
r contacted Mr. Frank Beeler with the City of Lodi regarding subsurface groundwater information from
private, municipal and irrigation wells located within 2,000 feet of the site. Mr. Beeler provided SRK
with information regarding the location and static water levels of 2 municipal water wells and a third
city well located near the 2,000 feet inclusion zone. This information is included in Appendix H.
Static water level information from the municipal wells indicates there are localized cones of depression
in the static water level surface near each well. The site is located north of the City Well #4.
Drawdown from well #4 contributes to the localized gradient at the Diamond Lumber site towards
the south.
1
10.0 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
Monitoring wells SRK-MW1, SRK-MW2 and SRK-MW3 have been sampled during each quarterly
sampling event (November 1991, April 1992, August 1992 and February 1993). Analytical results from
the February 1993 sampling event indicate that trace amounts of BTEX were detected in SRK-MW2
and SRK-MW3 and not in SRK-MW1. Volatile hydrocarbons were not detected in any of the three
wells. Lead was also detected in each of the three SRK monitoring wells. Lead concentrations in
SRK-MW1 have consistently decreased, while lead concentrations in SRK-MW2 have only been
detected when the static water level is elevated. Lead concentrations in SRK-MW3 have varied
randomly.
-.7 77-7.
Steffen Robertson and Kirsten
