Geosyntec°
consultants
1. INTRODUCTION
Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. (Geosyntec) has prepared this Pre-Design Data Collection Work Plan
(Work Plan) on behalf of Glenn Springs Holdings, Inc. (GSH), for the Former Occidental
Chemical Corporation (OCC) Lathrop Facility (Site) in Lathrop, California. The data collection
activities described in this Work Plan include tasks required to support the design of an aeration
system for treatment of sulfolane impacted groundwater that will be produced from the expanded
eastern groundwater extraction system currently being installed at the Site. The aeration system
will generally consist of a series of aboveground aeration tanks and a filtration system located on
a secondarily contained concrete pad.
Geosyntec is currently conducting an aeration pilot test to evaluate and optimize the design
parameters required for a full-scale aeration system. Due to the time critical nature of the project,
GSH has requested that Geosyntec concurrently complete critical path pre-implementation
planning activities, including collection of additional information required to facilitate aeration
system design. This Work Plan will be used to guide the collection of geotechnical data needed
to design the aeration system tanks.
1.1 Document Organization
Following this introduction, this Work Plan is organized as follows:
• Section 2 provides applicable Site background, which forms a basis for the data collection.
• Section 3 presents the Scope and Objectives of the investigation.
• Section 4 presents the Reporting.
• Section 5 presents the anticipated project schedule.
• Section 6 presents the references.
Pre-Design Data Collection Work Plan I July 22,2019
