Box 1839 <br /> 'Santa Monica, CA 90406 <br /> GROUND WATER CONTAMINATION AT USA FUEL STATIONS, SAID JOAQUIN <br /> COUNTY <br /> Our files indicate that the following USA stations have ground <br /> water contamination: <br /> 1) USA station AM——MONO <br /> 2) USA Station , , n <br /> Reports submitted in October 1987 by your consultant, Applied <br /> GeoSystems, demonstrate that petroleum hydrocarbons have leaked <br /> into the environment from your storage or distribution systems. <br /> Our concerns are that the extent of contamination has not been <br /> determined at these sites and the lack of activity by USA <br /> Petroleum to complete the work. Following are our reviews of the <br /> reports and. additional investigations necessary at each site: <br /> The "Delineation of Hydrocarbon contamination and <br /> Hydrogeologic Characterization" report..-prepared by <br /> Applied GeoSystems (13 October 1987) with excerpts <br /> 4 of a Pacific Environmental Group report, indicates <br /> that contaminated ground water exists beneath the <br /> product storage area and extends south at least <br /> 120 feet (MW-3) . The lack of any additional <br /> f monitoring wells in the indicated ground water <br /> flow direction (S400E) makes it impossible to <br /> etermine the actual extent of contamination at <br /> r is time.
