A total of 13 wells (MW-1 through MW-4, MW-6 through MW-10, S-1, S-2, AS-1, and VW-1) were destroyed. Each well was pressure grouted it from the bottom of the well casing to surface grade using neat cement. The upper 2.5 to j 3 feet of the well materials were removed using air knife equipment, after removal of the traffic rated vault boxes covering each well. Following removal of the uppermost portion of the well, a "mushroom cap" of neat cement was placed over the top of the remaining well casing. To allow for placement of the mushroom cap, at least a 6-inch radius of soil 1, surrounding the well materials (at least one foot larger than the well borehole diameter) was removed to a depth of 2.5 to 3 feet below ground surface (bgs) to meet SJCEHD well destruction requirements. After curing of the mushroom cap cement, the ground surface was subsequently patched to match the surrounding area. Following completion, of the work, Stratus submitted well destruction forms to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) on behalf of Woodward Drilling Company.
