V f
The samples will be collected in 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves using a drive sampler. The
samples will then be sealed with duct tape, labeled with sample ID number, depth, time
taken, sampler, and stored in a cooler at 4°Centigrade. The samples will be delivered to a
California State licensed laboratory under standard chain-of-custody procedures to be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons in the gasoline range (TPH G; EPA Method
8015 Modified), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX; EPA Method 8020),
respectively. The sampling equipment will be cleaned with a trisodium phosphate (TSP)
solution between soil samples.
2. To mitigate impacted soil, if found, during station upgrade operations and UST removal
operations, over-excavation of the UST field may be needed. This workplan purposes to
remove up to approximately 200 cubic yards of soil from the bottom of the UST
excavation. This corresponds to approximately 6-feet of soil to be removed from the base
of the UST field. Excavated soil will be stockpiled on-site and profiled with the other
excavated soil from the UST and fuel distribution line upgrade activities for appropriate
disposal. All work will be conducted under the direction of USA's construction crew.
The existing permits and access agreements will be used for this additional excavation
work.
Soil samples will be collected at the direction of PHS/EHD. The samples will be analyzed
for TPH G, BTEX and methyl-tert-butyl-ether(MTBE; EPA Method 8020). Selected soil
samples from the stockpiles will be analyzed for total lead (EPA Method 60 10) for
disposal.
A Site Safety Plan is included in Appendix A. To document the efforts from implementing this
workplan, a report of findings will be prepared and provided.
Mr. Srikanth Dasappa with USA retained GHH Engineering, Inc. to prepare this workplan.
When implemented, the work will be conducted in a manner consistent with the level of care and
skill ordinarily exercised by members of our profession currently practicing under similar
conditions in the State of California and the City of Lodi.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please call the undersigned at(916)
723-7645.
Thank you,
Vern A.
