(TPHG) using United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) method
8015B/DHS LUFT Manual, and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX
compounds), and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) using USEPA Method 8260B
(Appendix A)
Subsequent to system start-up on October 22, 2003, a Stratus technician visited the site
weekly in accordance with the ATC requirements to verify the petroleum hydrocarbon
destruction efficiency compliance using a PID In addition, influent and effluent air
samples were collected on November 3, 2003 for laboratory analysis All field
measurements were recorded on field data sheets and are included in Appendix B
Analytical results of soil vapor samples collected on October 22 and November 3, 2003,
were used to calculate mass extraction rates, mass emission rates, and destruction
efficiencies Table 1 presents a summary of the system operating parameters, analytical
results, and destruction efficiencies Detailed calculations for estimated mass emission
rates and destruction efficiencies are presented in Appendix C
Based on analytical results of air samples collected on October 22, 2003, TPHG,
benzene, and MTBE were extracted at the rate of approximately 6 35 pounds per day
(lbs/day), less than 0 007 lbs/day, and 127 lbs/day, respectively The mass emission - - - -- --
rates for TPHG, benzene, and MTBE were calculated to be less than 0 0794 lbs/day, Iess
than 0 0008 lbs/day, and less than 0 0005 lbs/day, respectively The destruction
efficiency of the SVE system for TPHG was estimated to be approximately greater than
98 percent for samples collected on October 22, 2003
P\USA Gaso11ne\0065\ReportsWSA 65_SecondSourceTestRep0rt doe
