Box 1839
t
Santa Monica, California 90406
Subject: Report No. AGS 87050-2, delineation of hydrocarbon
contamination and hydrogeologic characterization at
USA Station No. 65, 2500 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi,
® California
Mr. Nichols:
This report presents the results of an investigation to delineate
and characterize hydrocarbon contamination of soil and ground-
water at the above-referenced site. The work included drilling
.'.t. three boreholes and installing ground-water monitoring wells to a
depth of approximately 60 feet, collecting and analyzing soil and
ground-water samples for gasoline-related contaminants, and
measuring the.local ground-water gradient.
Analytical results from the field and the laboratory indicate
that no significant hydrocarbon contamination of soil exists near
the three boreholes. Hydrocarbon contamination of soil at levels
that are of concern probably does not exist beyond the area
reported by previous investigators, that is, beneath the
underground gasoline storage tanks.
Results of. labor&tory analyses of water from ground-water
monitoring wells KW-1 through MW-3 indicate that the benzene
concentration in water from one well (MW-3) is greater than the
maximum concentration recommended for safe drinking water by the
State of California Department of Health Services. The benzene
concentration of the water from well MW-3 is slightly above the
recommended maximum concentration. Pacific Environmental
Group identified two .offsite wells. that are located in the
