MEMORANDUM
TO: RON ROWE
FROM: MARGARET LAGORIO
DATE: DECEMBER 2, 1998
RE: 2409 MAIN STREET, STOCKTON
The information gathered to date on this site is limited. Soil and groundwater
contamination has been documented. Depth to groundwater has fluctuated at
this site. The depths to groundwater during the operation period of the former
UST's should be established. Investigation of soil and groundwater to the lowest
depth of groundwater at a minimum should be performed.
It has been our agencies policy to require groundwater samples and selected soil
samples to be analyzed for the five oxygenates since September 1997, by EPA
Method 8260. At the last unit meeting a letter from DTSC was distributed stating
that EPA Method 8240 was also acceptable.
As we discussed earlier continuous core drilling and preparation of cross
sections are recommendations. Sufficient site information must exist to justify
the cost of requiring this work. You can indicate in writing that this may be
required in the future so you recommend they do it now.
