The purpose of the proposed work is to further
define the extent of gasoline hydrocarbons in soil and to confirm the presence and
evaluate the extent of gasoline hydrocarbons in groundwater. The proposed work will
include the drilling of three soil borings and installation of monitoring wells in the areas of
the former gasoline underground storage tanks(USTs) and product islands.
This work plan includes a brief discussion of site background, proposed scope of work,
and schedule.
SITE BACKGROUND
The site is located at the northeast corner of East Main Street and F Street in Stockton,
CA. Currently, the site is vacant, and was previously utilized as a Chevron service
station. Former facilities on the site included three gasoline USTs, one waste oil UST,
underground product piping and associated dispensers. The USTs were reportedly
installed at the site in 1955 and the gasoline USTs were reportedly removed in 1976. The
waste oil tank was removed in 1996. The former USTs consisted of three steel-walled
gasoline fuel tanks(one 5,000-gallon supreme, one 2,000-gallon mid-grade, and one
5,000-gallon regular) and one steel-walled 5502gallon waste oil tank(Figure 2). No
information regarding the installation or removal of the gasoline USTs and associated
facilities were available.
PREVIOUS INVESTIGATION
In February 1995, The Mark Group performed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
(ESA) at the site and concluded that further investigation be performed. In April 1995,
