Marci Property Page 2
2969 Loomis Road June 1, 2011
Stockton, California 95205
The EHD believes the information provided in Well Receptor Survey, dated 11 January 2001,
suffices for identifying supply wells within a 2,000-foot radius of this site. This, along with a
visual survey of the surrounding area, possibly aided by the use of aerial photographs of the
area, should be all that is necessary to target the supply wells within 600 feet of the source
area. Assuming no new supply wells are discovered during this process, the EHD approves
sampling only the three domestic wells located at 3233, 2985, and 2973 Loomis Road. These
wells appear to be down-gradient of the source area where water-table monitoring wells are
not present to assess the lateral extent of the contaminated plume.
GTI proposes to advance four soil borings using GeoProbes® and collect grab groundwater
samples at designated areas between 65 and 95 feet bsg. The EHD approves the
advancement of the four proposed borings but recommends that borehole GW-1 be relocated
approximately 20 feet south of its currently proposed location and nearer the west property
line to better assess the petroleum hydrocarbon plume between the source area and the
down-gradient domestic well located at 2973 Loomis Road. The EHD also recommends the
borings be advanced using cone penetration test (CPT) technology instead of GeoProbe®
technology. It is the opinion of the EHD that the use of GeoProbes® to advance borings at
depths greater than 60 feet bsg often results in refusal before target depths are achieved.
CPT technology provides soil behavioral and pore pressure data logging to help identify the
more permeable depth intervals. The grab groundwater samples can then be obtained at
targeted depths from discreet borings advanced adjacent to each CPT boring.
With these conditions the EHD approves the work plan. Submit a boring permit application
and permit/inspection fees of $488.00 to the EHD and complete the fieldwork by 03 August
2011.
If you have any questions, please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-9852 or by e-mail at
vmccartney(a.sjcehd.com.
Sincerely,
Victoria L.
