<br /> Sprectrum Drilling Co, Van Leonard, Driller and DRA were on
<br /> '
<br /> site and commenced auger operations on MW # 2 at about 8 . 30
<br /> AM. The site was moved about 5" west for convenience in
<br /> placing the drill truck. These adjusted locations are shown
<br /> ' on Figure 1 . About 6" of rock rubble and/or degraded asphalt
<br /> were removed from the surface Inasmuch as MW # 2 and MW # 3
<br /> were scheduled to be completed with 2" PVC, augers of 8"
<br /> nominal size OD were used. The split spoon sampler used 3 ,
<br /> 2" X 6" brass tubes, the same as in MW #1 .
<br /> From 6" to 21 : blue clay, dry. From 2 ' to 51 . tan clay,
<br /> ' small cuttings . From 5 ' to 151 : tan clay , slight reddish
<br /> cast, dry, cuttings increasing to 1 1/2" size . Faint, not
<br /> recognized odor at about 151 . From 15 ' to 30 ' tan to
<br /> ' reddish brown clay as above, warm, earthy smell , cuttings
<br /> clumping to about 2" at 301 . From 30 ' to 401 : as above, no
<br /> odor, smaller cuttings . From 40 ' to 451 . clay as above,
<br /> less reddish cast, no odor, containing 1/4" to 1/2" pebbles .
<br /> ' From 45 ' to 471 : clay as above, fine cuttings . Sample # 1 at
<br /> 47 to 48 1/21 , dense, brownish clay, less red than earlier,
<br /> containing about 5% pebbles to 1" in diameter, no
<br /> ' hydrocarbon odor. From 48 ' to 52 . dense, brownish clay, no
<br /> pebbles, no odor. Sample # 2 at 52 ' to 53 1/21 , dense,
<br /> brownish, clay, some sand grains, slightly moist, no
<br /> hydrocarbon odor. From 52 ' to 571 : dense, brownish clay as
<br /> above, slightly moist, no hydrocarbon odor. Sample # 3 at
<br /> 57 ' to 58 1/21 , dense, brownish clay, moist, some light
<br /> grey streaks, carbon material , moist, no odor. From 57 ' to
<br /> t 621 : clay as above. Sample # 4 at 62' to 63 1/21 , dense,
<br /> brownish clay as above, carbon inclusions . From 62 ' to 751 :
<br /> dense, brownish clay, no odor, moist, clay balls . Water on
<br /> ' bit at 741 . Sample # 5 at 75 ' to 76 1/21 , Water at 74 ' to
<br /> 75 ' in core . Coarse, brown sand with some gravel . Sampled at
<br /> 761 . Slue clay on bit . From 75 ' to 861 ' no sand cuttings to
<br /> surface, brownish clay as above .
