F
GeofogicOTechnics Inc.
27415{iveroad
1 Nlndrsto,Cafoinia 95351
(209)538-6424/Yax#538-5852
Work Plan
y -
Additional Site Characterization
Marci's Property
2969 Loomis Road
Stockton, CA
March 21,2000
Project No. 770.2
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this work plan is to complete the San Joaquin County hydrologic monitoring
requirements for ,the Marci's Diesel Service site. These guidelines are outlined in the
correspondence of December 10, 1998, from San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Safety Division (SJC PHS/EHD).
f 2.0 SOIL BORING AND MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
The SJC PHS/EHD has requiredthat nested wells be placed at locations MW-5 and MW-6
(please see Figurc4 2) in order to define the vertical and lateral extent of the contamination
' plume in those areas. Construction of nested wells often results in the wells becoming filled
with grout during the installation .of the grout between the two sand packs. .Proper
installation of nested wells requires the use of 10.25-inch o.d. augurs Which are slower to use
and reduce the fuel efficiency of the drill rig. Since nested wells are clearly difficult and
expensive to construct, GTI proposes the following alternative:
Monitoring Wells at MW-5 Location
➢
Two soil borings located three feet apart will be installed at the MW-5 location shown in
Figure 2.
➢ Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals.
➢ The first boring at the MW-5 location shall be drilled to a depth of 15 feet below the last
contamination'noted by field methods.
➢ If, and only if,;contamination extends'to a depth of 80 feet, the boring will.be completed
as a 95 foot deep, discretely screened monitoring well and named MW-105.
E ➢ The second boring at MW-5 location will be free drilled to a depth of 75 feet and a
monitoring well(MW-5) will be installed..
r
Monitoring Well at
MW-6 Location -
➢. At the location of MW-6, a 75-foot monitoring well will be installed.
,S
4
S
