-6 ;I
Frank Ryan
Page 2
9 i
Monitoring wells 5, 6, and 7.have all evidenced groundwater contamination at
some point during the investigation. Previously, there was a drinking water well
north of monitoring well 5. Since we do not know when the petroleum release
occurred, it is possible the pi6viously existing well pulled contamination in that
direction.
Proposed borings 131 and B2 appear to be about 10 feet apart. The boring
proposed near 131 should be` placed in the area between monitoring wells 1 and
2, to investigate the extent of soil contamination in that direction (same direction
as previously existing drinking water well)_
'i
A water sample must be collected from the slant boring proposed near
monitoring well 3. The sample is to be analyzed for the same contaminants
discussed in the work plan. „
Water samples have not been collected and analyzed from the existing
monitoring wells since March 1997. Quarterly sampling, analysis, and reporting
are required until further site,,action is not required. Please arrange a sampling
event immediately and schedule an inspection of the activity with PHS/EHD staff. .
Please submit an addendum to the work plan, which encompasses the above
comments. Also submita permit application (work to be performed under a C-57
licensed driller) and $89.00 permit fee. Once the permit has been issued, the
work can be scheduled at a time when PHSIEHD staff can inspect the work.
if you have any questions contact me at (209) 468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
e ,
I,
Margaret I_agorio, Supervising REHS
Site Mitigation Unit ;
I.
c: CVRWQCB - Pat Anderson
WHF Inc. - Bill Fox
SWRCB Cleanup Fuad - James DiGiorgio
A
