Eight soil samples were obtained from the bottom
1, of the excavation and sent to Eureka Laboratories, Inc., for chemiral analysis of benzene, toluene,
athylbenzene,xylenesB
( TEX),and total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPM,ethyIene dibromide(EDB),and
tetraethyl lead (TEL) concentrations. The results indicated that the soils beneath the hvo 5,000 gallon
s unleaded regular tanks contained petroleum hydrocarbons at a depth of 15 feet
A summary of the chemical analysis is presented in Table 2. Soil sample identification and Iocations are
€'
shown in Figure 2. Concentrations of TPH ranged from nondetected in samples T-1,T-2,1=3,and T-4 to
t 4,880 parts per million(ppm)in T•5; 4,790 ppm in T_6;_I 500 ppm in-T-7:and 120 ppm is T-8.--- – -
--Two hundred cubic yards of soil and backfill were excavated front the former tank location and temporarily
stockpiled on site Approximately.100 cubic yards of this soil were used to backfill the former
excavation
w
. on January 20,1989 The remaining 100 cubic yards of sail, lus 60 cable
P yards of sail from the product line
trenches were stockpileand sampled on January
f ' d 25,1989.
