ESTIMATES OF LIQUID QUANTITY RELEASED:
The estimate of liquid quantity released is unknown, it
is believed the contamination is due to over fillinq of
the tanks prior to the overspill buckets being installed
in April of 1988. The contamination is confined to one
area at the west end of Tank 1. Analysis of the sample
taken at this location .indicated as follows:
Benzene (8020) - ND
Toluene (8020) - 900 ppb
Ethylbenzene (8020) - 2800 ppb
Xylene (8020) - 14800 ppb
TEPH - 5800 ppm
All soil samples were taken and analyzed by FGL
Environmental using chain of custody protocol. Results
can be found in Attachments,
t
IX. LOCAL TOPOGRAPHY:
t
- Refer to figure 1 for local topography. Depth of ground
water at this location is approximately 12 to 13 feet as
per John W. ..Tones, Supervisor of Water Treatment Plant
{ for the City of Tracy.
X. HISTORY OF SYTE AND TANK USE:
American Transit Mix .(ATM) assumed lease of this site in 1978,
the facility at.the time of the lease was a Concrete Batching
- Plant and the two underground tanks were i,istalled in the mid
60's by the previous lessee. The site was used by ATM as a
€ Concrete Batching Plant. Both the 500 gallon gasoline and the
1,000 gallon diesel tanks had overspill buckets installed on
} the tank's fill risers in April of 2988. ATM ceased operation
at this. facility July 12, 1989. The underground tanks were
removed from the site on September 27, 1989 by Chrisp
f Environmental Services under the supervision of the Tracy Fire
Department and the San Joaquin Loral Health District. one
soil sample was taken from underneath the gasoline tank and
two soil samples were taken from either end of the diesel tank
a (refer to figure 4). The samples taken from underneath the
gasoline tank and the east end of the diesel tank came up
clean. The sample taken from the west end of the diesel tank
= -----
showed-contamination-levels--as--indicated- iri_ tlie ESTIMATES__6F_______
i
LIQUID QUANTITIES RELEASED section of this report.
