- _

y. September. 14, 1988
AGS Job No. 86102-3
Page 3
well MW-1 also exceeded the recommended levels established by
that agency, as did the toluene concentration in the sample from
well MW-2.
W
Because the concentrations of some volatile constituents in the
ground-water samples collected at the site exceed the maximum
levels for drinking water recommended by the DHS, we recommend
that a vapor recovery system be implemented to mitigate soil
contamination in the vicinity of the tank cavity. If contaminant
? , concentrations in ground water underlying the site remain above
recommended levels additional work may be necessary to evaluate
the source of ground-water contamination at the site. Mitigation
of ground-water contamination at the site should not proceed,
however, until the effectiveness of the vapor-recovery system can
be evaluated. The quarterly ground-water monitoring program
should be continued.
Copies of this report should be forwarded to IIs. Laurie Cotulla
of the San Joaquin County Local Health District, Environmental
Health Division, 1601 Hazelton Avenue, P.O. Box 2009, Stockton,
California 95201, and to Mr. Gordon Lee Boggs of the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board, central Valley Region, 3443
' Routier Road, Sacramento, California 95827-3098.
! We have tentatively scheduled the next sampling event for the
6 week of September 5, 1988.
