A
December 16, 1986
Beacon Service Station 03-492 - Manteca, californiaG$ 86102-1
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Although the measured local ground water gradient is level we
understand, through conversations with Laurie Cotulla of the San
Joaguin Local Health District, that the regional
ground water
gradient is toward the northwest:. The relatively higher levels
Of soil contamination found in B-1/MW-1 and B-2/MW-2 and the law
to non detectable level of soil contamination in B-3/MW-3 offer
further evidence for a northwesterly flow. The source of
ontaminat%in appears to be up gradient from
- MW-1 and MW-2. The
low levels of soil and water contamination found in B-3/MW-3
could be the result of migration of the hydrocarbons along the
relativelyflat
gradient, or could represent background levels
for the site.
1
The levels of contamination detected in the
' ground wat r. samples
from MW-1, and MW-2 are above drinking water standards. Remedial
action may be necessary. It is our understanding,. based on
conversations with Laurie Cotulla of the San Joaquin Local ;health
District, that the ground water in the vicinity of the site is
used 'for domestic purposes. we will evaluate this during the
preliminary phase of a._remedial-program;--of--one-is-aeedea.
