M.
ERR
RMER
December 16, 1936 AGS 86102-1
Beacon Service Station #3-492 - Manteca, California
Because some product odor was detected in soil samples from
goring B-1 (MW-1) and B--2 (MW-2), and ground water analyses from
these wells indicate benzene concentration above drinking water
standards, we recommend that the water in the three wells be
subjectively monitored to assess possible changes in hydrocarbon
concentration. ':Lis monitoring should be conducted for a period
of six months tr, evaluate possible contaminant .trends.
Applied GeoSystems will conduct the monthly subjective analyses
which will include field examination of water samples. A
t. relatively undisturbed water- sample collected at the air/water
interface in each well will be examined for evidence of floating :
product, petroleum odor, sheen, and emulsion. We further
recommend that the wells be
purged, resampled, and analyzed for
`.
total hydrocarbon and hydrocarbon constituent. levels after six
months. These samples will be analyzed by EPA method 602 for
total volatile hydrocarbons.
r
The information obtained from the six month sampling period may
s show a trend for .the ground water quality at the site. Possible
recommendations for water treatment will be made based on this
trend.
- 12
