( t
1405 Main Street, Escalon
Page 2
08/26/98 The backhoe was repaired, and a diesel tank pit sample was collected at
14.5 feet bsg. Analysis reported 34 ppm TPHd in the sample.
11/23/98 Sampling of piping areas occurred this date. The subcontractor
demolishing the building removed all piping, without permission or
inspection so sample locations were at our best judgment. Using EPA
Method 8260 MtBE analyses was ND for all samples. The deepest sample
was 10 feet bsg. A piping sample collected at 5 feet bsg near the former
diesel tank pit area had 18,000 ppm TPH-d.
12/09/98 Re-sampling of piping areas occurred this date. Samples were collected at
17.5-, 18- and 19 feet bsg. The highest reported contaminant
concentration was 580 ppm TPHd in the 19-foot sample. There was a
significant reduction in TPH-d contamination from 5 feet to 19 feet and
EHD determined further investigation wasn't required because depth to
water was 60 feet bsg, the 1996-97 investigations provided lateral and
vertical contaminant information and the site was going to be part of Hwy
120. Stockpiled soil was returned to the excavations.
10/02/03 "REPORT: Risk Evaluation &Appendix B Site Closure Checklist' dated
September 29, 2003 submitted this date. The report refers to information
on UST cleanup sites at 1305 and 1360 Escalon Avenue where the
groundwater flow is westerly, water samples from the monitoring wells are
non detect and the well survey identified the closest receptors to be two
City of Escalon wells that are over 600 feet away and upgradient of this
site. The report requested site closure.
