To accomplish this task,
Geological Technics Inc. drilled one GeoProbe borehole to a depth of 18 feet and collected
soil and groundwater samples for analysis of petroleum hydrocarbons.
The geology of this site is dominated with course grained sediments (sand). Groundwater
was encountered in the boring at 16 feet below ground surface (bgs).
;
Test results showed that BTEX, TPH-G, oxygenated fuel compounds, EDB or EDC were not
present in the soil or groundwater samples collected from beneath the tank pit.
1.1 GeoProbe Drilling
One GeoProbe borehole was drilled through he former tank pit. Soil samples were collected
continuously down to a depth of 18 feet. The soil sample from the first native soil below the
backfill (9.5-10') and the capillary fringe soil sample (15') were submitted to the laboratory
r for analysis.
L ;
Upon reaching groundwater, a hydropunch type groundwater,sampling tool was advanced to
a depth of 20 feet bgs. The hydropunch was then retracted three feet, exposing the screen
from 17 to 20 feet bgs. A groundwater sample was collected by.use of a Watera type purge
tube and transferred into 40m1 VOAs.
All samples were placed in an ice chest for transport to the laboratory.
L• •
L
