(AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. In
the work plan AGE proposes the installation of one deep and four shallow-screened
monitoring wells, advancement of four direct-push soil borings up gradient of the petroleum
hydrocarbon contaminated plume, and performance of two aquifer extraction tests.
EHD approves the installation of four shallow wells screened from approximately 10 to 30
feet below surface grade (bsg), and one deep well screened from approximately 70 to 80 feet
bsg. Soil samples will be collected from each soil boring at five-foot intervals, beginning at
five feet bsg in the shallow wells, and thirty-five feet bsg in the deep well. One of the
shallow wells will be located adjacent to the northeast corner of the canopy covering the four
dispensers, and the three remaining shallow wells will be installed along the fence line on the
eastern side of the above-referenced property; one well will be located approximately 60 feet
east of monitoring well MW-3, and the remaining two wells will be located approximately 60
feet northeast and east of MW-2. The deep well will be installed approximately 50 feet
northeast of MW-2. EHD directs that you analyze soil and groundwater samples for di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), and ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), in addition to the analyses for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPH-g); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); methyl
tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), and 1,2-dichloroethane
(1,2-DCA).
EHD approves the advancement of four soil borings to total depths of approximately 45 feet
bsg while collecting soil samples at five-foot intervals. Grab groundwater samples will be
collected at first encountered groundwater at approximately 19 feet bsg, and at total depths at
approximately 45 feet bsg. One soil boring will be advanced in the planter area next to the
sidewalk and approximately halfway between the two driveways at California Stop; the
remaining three soil borings will be advanced along the fence line located to the south of
Manthey Road and opposite the northern, central, and southern sections of the planter area
located along the sidewalk at California Stop. EHD directs that the soil and groundwater
samples be analyzed for the analytes listed above.
