The
well pump appeared to be up.-:.a;i,ia.Jned and unused for some time. The well owner,
depth, and other vital data was not ouminable during our field visit. Discussions with Mrs. f
Betty Swasamberge of the California Department of Water Resources indicated that most z
older wells drilled in the area of the site were not recorded with the DWR, Additional
W. data concP;ning other possible wells within a half-mile radius of the site was nct available
`-' at the time of this report. Mrs.Swasamberge has indicated that the data would be located
by November 15, 1989. This data will be forwarded as Appendix D upon receipt in our
office.
6.4 GROUND WATER ASSESSMENT
Ground water was generally encountered during drilling at approximately ten feet below i
the ground surface. Ground water flow direction is generally towards the southwest, as
estimated from ground water level measurements(Plate 3).
``j In general, ground water samples analyzed from up-gradient ground water monitoring wells
.'•€€ MW-2 and MW-3 did not contain detectable concentrations of hydrocarbons or BTEX #
L1 above the method detection limits. Ground water sampled from the down-gradient to
trans-gradient monitoring well(MW-1)contained benzene at 250 ugli,ethyl benzene at 30
ug/l and total xylenes at 280 ug/l. In addition,4,300 ug/1 total petroleum hydrocarbons as
Agasoline, was detected in the ground water sample from MW-1 during the first sampling.
Similar results were obtained during the October 1989 sampling. Analytical reports appear
in Appendix C. The ground water results do not indicate that hydrocarbons are from an
off-site up-gradient source. Groundwater quality data appears on Table 4.
-------------
h
 r
 p
t e
5
EBMUD-001.89-001 16
 A
  3L
