_ I
G
August 23, 1995
s
i
Subject: Corrective Action Plan Executive Swntnary - }
Unocal Service Station No. 5886
2701 W. March Lane
Stockton, California 95201
Delta Project No. D095-066
In July 1995, Unocal began remodeling of service station No. 5886, located at 2701 W. March Lane,
Stockton, California. Activities at the site included the removal of the station building, station
canopy, product lines and dispensers, and the overlying concrete and asphalt cover. During removal
of the lines and dispensers, soil samples were collected to assess the possible presence of petroleum
hydrocarbons in sod. Soil samples were submitted to a California certified laboratory for chemical
analyses Analytical results from the laboratory reported concentrations of total petroleum
fied as gasoline and diesel and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes
hydrocarbons quanti
above the laboratory's limits of detection.
Upon approval from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division, Unocal proposes to
install a minimum of 10 Geoprobe sampling points on-site to assess the lateral and vertical extent of
hydrocarbons in soil in the area of the former dispenser islands and product piping. Concurrent with
the soil sampling, ground water samples will be collected and analyzed to assess if ground water has
been impacted and to what extent. Based on the results of the proposed investigation, additional
investigationlremediation work as necessary will be proposed and performed upon authorization from
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division. Any required work will be performed
concurrently with and after completion of the new station.
i
